COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

RECON Community Leaders Awards

An annual celebration honoring Unsung Heroes and Heroines from both Black-Ethnic and non-Black communities in the UK.
The awards recognize individuals showing exceptional leadership and commitment to community cohesion and development.
Notable awardees include Baroness Valerie Amos, Rev. Les Isaac, and Kwame Kwei-Armah.

Bereavement Advice and Support

Led personally by Archbishop Kwaku Frimpong-Manson BEM, this program offers emotional and spiritual support to bereaved families.
Each year, Archbishop Frimpong-Manson officiates over 75 funerals, providing compassionate pastoral care, counseling, and comfort — a cornerstone of RI’s outreach in London and beyond.

Youth Development Projects

Dedicated to empowering young people, especially within the Broadwater Farm Estates, this program builds confidence, leadership, and community responsibility through workshops and seminars.
By impacting positive values, RI helps reduce youth involvement in violence, particularly knife and gun crime.
Annual trips to Thorpe Park and Drayton Manor promotes positive networking and social growth.

Mother Tongue & Cultural Awareness Projects

This initiative preserves and strengthens cultural identity amongst youth with African-descent.

Through workshops on traditional languages, music, and customs, participants gain a sense of pride and belonging.
Programs exploring Akan and Ewe puberty rites foster self-respect, improve intergenerational relationships, and have contributed to a decline in teenage pregnancy.

Public Health & Community Care Initiatives

RI promotes holistic well-being by supporting health education and mental health awareness.1 The program identifies and collaborates with other community organisations and professionals to facilitate events aimed at addressing health and social challenges facing our communities.

Faith and Reconciliation Ministry

Through preaching, community outreach, and interfaith collaboration, RI spreads¹ the Full Gospel of Christ and advocates peace, tolerance, and reconciliation across diverse communities.
